Liquore D’arancia Rossa Siciliana


10 Arance Rosse di Sicilia (blood red oranges)
4 cups of grain alcohol
2 1/4 lb. sugar
Two cloves
One cinnamon stick
Five lemon leaves
Four cups of water

How to make the Liquore D’arancia Rossa Siciliana – Sicilian Red Orange Liqueur:

Zest the oranges. Place the zest, the cinnamon stick, the cloves, and lemon leaves in a container with the 4 cups of grain alcohol. Seal hermetically.
Allow sitting for 20-25 days, shaking the container from time to time.
Prepare a syrup by bringing the water to a boil and adding the sugar.
Allow cooling.
Filter the alcohol infusion from the zest and spices.
Add the syrup.
Let rest for another two months.
